(1968 – 2022)
Regina “Gina” Bernice Schaefers passed peacefully into the next life on Sunday, August 7th, 2022. She was surrounded with love from her family.
Gina was born in San Mateo, California, May 24th, 1968. Her father, Gerd Bode was an engineer. Her mother, Christel Bode, was a homemaker who lit up the home with her smile. She finished high school, started college, and entered the work world. That’s when she met the love of her life, Eric Schaefers in Alameda, California. They married in 1993 in a small church near Eric’s family in Nice, California.
Being in the Navy, they were stationed to their first off-shore assignment in Japan. They lived off base and enjoyed the Japanese culture and food. In 1997, they had their daughter, Christel. Their next stop was Guam, another great place to live. Together they enjoyed hiking, camping, diving and exploring the island.
Gina continued to work, completing her Bachelor’s Degree. Her business degree launched her career into all levels of administration: human resources, accounting, procurement, and more. Gina particularly enjoyed small companies and built long term relationships with all the people she worked with. She was praised and recognized for her thorough attention to detail and quality work.
In 2000, they were stationed stateside and they purchased their first home in San Diego, CA. It was a wonderful bungalow that they took great pride in making their own. Eric and Gina’s second child, Brandon, was born in 2002, making them a happy family of four.
Gina and Eric loved their time in Guam so much, they requested to be stationed back there, to enjoy the beach and sun once again. In 2007, they moved for the final time to their current residence in Everett, Washington. Each place they lived, Gina made life-long friends, both personally and professionally.
Anyone who knew Gina, knew she was a devoted wife, mother, and friend. She made those around her feel loved. She was dedicated to her family and spent many hours attending hundreds of her children’s sporting and school events, rarely, if ever, missing any.
Her precious personal time was spent reading, biking, relaxing in her backyard, and trying new recipes. Gina especially enjoyed skiing, camping and vacationing with family and friends. The family German Shepherds were her pride and joy.
Gina is survived by her husband Eric, children, Christel and Brandon, as well as her father, Gerd and his wife Julie. There are also numerous loving family and friends that will miss her very much. Gina leaves her mark on everyone she met. Her spirit shines in all of our lives.
We will be celebrating her life Saturday August 20, 2022 at noon at Bauer Funeral Chapel, 701 1st St, Snohomish, WA. In lieu of sending flowers, please share meaningful pictures and stories with her family and each other to remember Gina.
