Donald B. Deierling, 86, of Seattle, Washington drove his silver '63 Corvette of old off into the early morning of October 1, 2013 with a case of fine red wine in the boot, headed for heaven's gates. Don was born on March 9, 1927 in Chelan, Washington to Eric A. C. and Alice F. (Hoglund) Deierling. He graduated from Snohomish High School in 1945. He enlisted in the US Navy in that same year. In 1950 he graduated from Washington State College (University) with a Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Don had a long career with Boeing working in Wichita, Philadelphia and the Puget Sound area on the B-52, 747 and many other projects. He retired in 1991. Don loved the outdoors. In his younger years he was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was a car enthusiast and enjoyed a good drive, equipped with driving gloves and hat. Late into his years he enjoyed bicycling, skiing and tending his dahlia garden. He loved a fine meal, fine wine and good company to share it with. He was always a gentleman and a gentleman he was to the end. In Don's rear view mirror he leaves behind his brother, Dale H. Deierling; nephews, Dale R. Deierling (Kathryn) and Dell A. Deierling (Renée); niece, Joni L. Siewert (Don); many beloved great nieces and nephews and extended family; cousins, Donna Robinett (Henry) and Marcelina Deierling (widow of Larry); and sister-in-law, Nola Schaus, all of Snohomish. A special thank you is extended to Don's lifelong friend Bob Carlson and his wife Mariellen for the care and friendship they provided him during his final lap. Services will be held on Thursday, October 10, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 5511 64th St SE, Snohomish. A reception will follow at the church.
