Martha Jean Ellis (Jeannie), beloved wife of Robert Ellis for 39 years, passed away peacefully on June 23, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born in Buffalo, NY, on August 27, 1941, to Leroy and Ethel Lippincott. Following her family's relocation to Atlanta, she pursued her Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Emory University and later retired from John Stephens Pipeline Company.
Jeannie was widely admired for her intellect, independence, curiosity, creativity, and warm-hearted nature, qualities she embodied daily. Her interests included gardening, leisurely park strolls, and delving into captivating mystery novels. She had a passion for puzzles and enthusiastically embraced Geocaching, a pastime that involved discovering hidden treasures in outdoor locations across the country. Known for her artistic flair, Jeannie handcrafted exquisite Christmas cards annually, which were eagerly anticipated by friends and family who cherished each unique design and often displayed them during the holiday season.
Throughout their years together, Jeannie and Robert welcomed numerous beloved pets into their home, treating each of them as a cherished family member. Particularly fond of Australian Terriers, she lovingly cared for several over the years, sharing in the unconditional love they offered.
In addition to her husband Robert, Jeannie was survived by her son Don Hancock and his wife Perri; stepdaughter Dorie Poe, husband Jeff, and children; stepdaughter Aimee Powell, husband Mac, and children; and stepdaughter Wende Casey, husband Todd, and children.
Jeannie's presence will be deeply missed but forever cherished in our hearts.
