Emogene Langford Irvin, 84, of Lawrenceville died peacefully Thursday, June 21, 2018. She was born in Sycamore, Georgia on September 17, 1933 to Dennis and Ruby Nelson Langford. After moving to Atlanta at the young age of 16 to attend business school, she worked as a secretary for the Coca Cola Company. She later worked for the DeKalb County Public Library System for 25 years, retiring in 1996.
She was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother to three girls she called, in her words, “the joy of her life”. She was a thoughtful neighbor and friend, always thinking of ways to help others. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, gardening, beach vacations and traveling the world with her husband, fulfilling a dream of a small town girl. Emogene is survived by her husband, James R. Irvin, daughters Denise Wade (Scott), Dianne Hooper (Todd), and Linda Lapeyrouse, stepsons Will Irvin (Karen) and Kelly Irvin (Jenny), grandchildren Clint Wade (Megan), Heather Wade, Justin Snow (Deven), Autumn Wells, Blair Elrod (Adam), Connor Hooper (Hannah), William Irvin, Benjamin Irvin, and great granddaughter Stella Kate Wade. She is preceded in death by her parents Dennis and Ruby
Langford and grandson Luke Wells.
