Some people bring a light so bright into this world, that even after they are gone, the light remains…our one-of-a-kind Barrett (Barry) Cross was that light. Barrett was born on January 18, 1961 in Nashville, TN to the union of Mary Patricia Martin and the late Raymond Cross, Sr.
He was educated in the Metropolitan Nashville Public School system and furthered his higher education with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts Technology from Tennessee State University. Barrett also attended Nashville State Technical Institute where he studied computer operations.
Barrett gave his heart to Jesus Christ at an early age, uniting with the Cleveland Street Missionary Baptist Church in Nashville under the pastorate of Reverend Curtis Bender.
Barrett’s work history spanned more than twenty years in the healthcare industry, starting with Saint Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN., as a supply distribution clerk. He ended his career with Emory Hospital in Decatur, GA as a Materials Handler.
Barrett was a shining example of love and compassion. His kind smile and compassionate nature immediately put everyone at ease. He had an extraordinary capacity to listen, and to provide consolation in times of need. Barry was a dedicated friend and a rock for his family. His sense of humor and laugh were contagious, and he had a rare capacity to find pleasure in the simplest of circumstances. Let us remember Barrett by carrying on his legacy of compassion, love, and steadfast loyalty to people he cared about. He will live on in our hearts forever. Barrett is a great example of how much good one person can do in the world.
Barrett leaves to cherish his memory, dearly loved fiancée Paula Osborne; loving mom Mary Patricia Cross; devoted brother Terrance Ray Cross; beloved niece Makenna Elysee Cross; loving brother-by-choice Rick (Angela) Williams, Clarksville, Tennessee; loving cousin Steve (Donna) Kimbrough; dear-to-his-heart step daughter Jasmine (Jazz) Truly and numerous loving uncles, aunts, cousins, family friends and co-workers spread from Tennessee to Georgia who will treasure always their many joyful and funny memories of “Barry”, as he was affectionately known, with his big heart.
