Skowhegan- Rosa Marie McGrail, 51, passed away peacefully on July 28, 2018 after a brief illness. She was born in Panama City, Panama on September 11, 1966 the daughter of Donna (Pomerleau) and William Fuller, Sr.
William’s military service led the family to later settle in Skowhegan. Rosa graduated from Skowhegan Area High School, class of 1984 and went on to complete the physical therapy assistant (PTA) program.
Her positive energy and adventurous spirit touched the lives of many from Maine to Texas. From a young girl she set the bar high and never stopped striving to be a better version of herself. Her strength and perseverance was like no other, which led her to achieve her PTA degree. Becoming a PTA was rewarding to her on many levels; she bettered the lives of thousands of clients in her 20 years of experience, and met a group of people at RFGH that she would soon consider as a second family. She held her RFGH coworkers close, but her three sons, Joseph, Christopher, and Jonathan, were her world.
She passed her love for sports, specifically the New England Patriots, on to her three sons. She spent countless Friday nights under the lights of a football field cheering for her favorite players. Although she was devastated by the loss of her son Jonathan at such a young age, she set out on a mission. Her new goal was to educate the surrounding schools on the importance of a life and organ donation. It was important for her to spread a message, and make sure her boys always knew, "I'll love you forever, I'll like you for always".
Rosa was predeceased by her brother, William "Alan" Fuller, Jr.; her son, Jonathan McGrail; her nephew, Dustin Small; and her mother, Donna Fuller. Her strength passed down to her from her mother is what led her to hurdle over the hardships of life and be the positive person she was known to be.
She is survived and will be most deeply missed by her sons, Joseph McGrail and Christopher McGrail; father, William Fuller, Sr. and his wife Debbie; sisters, Kara Fuller, Catherine Nelson and her partner Henry Stratton, and Pamela Fuller. Nieces and nephews; Derrick and his children Dustin, Derrick Jr., and Adalynn; Tyson, Patricia and her husband Peter and their children, Callie and Tucker; Paul and Kasey and their son Paul III; Patrick, Cailee and fiancé Justin; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to visit from 6-8pm, Friday, August 3 at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A celebration of Rosa's life will be held at 11am, Saturday, August 4 at Skowhegan Federated Church, Island Avenue, Skowhegan with Rev. Mark Tanner officiating. Interment will follow at East Skowhegan Cemetery.
