CANAAN – Lewis J. Ryder, 44, passed away unexpectedly at his home on February 21, 2018. He was born in Waterville on October 12, 1973 the son of Annetta (Reynolds) White and Llewellyn Ryder. Lewis was raised in Belfast and received his diploma from Mt. View High School. He was a jack of all trades, including driving truck, fishing, carpentry, painting, gardening, and anything else he put his mind to. He lived in Freedom while raising his children. For the last 14 years he lived in Canaan where he shared his home with Carroll and Jake.
Lewis will be remembered as a genuine and kind man. He had an endless ability to leave his mark on the people he chose to connect with. He was passionate about the outdoors and all of the beauty that the world offered. He was a protector to all of those that he cared for. Lewis was a man of many talents, when he started anything he wanted it to be perfect, he created beautiful works of art that will always be treasured by his family, and will be remember for his green thumb. When he chose to share his story, he became an inspiration to those that listened.
Lewis is survived by his parents; partner, Carroll Delbaugh and her son Jake Reynolds; sister, Billie-Jo Dunbar; children, Jenna, Lewis, Elaine and Christopher; dear cousin, Sherri Genest and her husband Todd; Uncle Alec; Aunt Deedee; and a large extended family that includes nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren and friends.
Visiting hours will be held from 2-6pm, Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan. A graveside service will be held in the spring.
