Greta J McCue

She was born October 8, 1935, in Brighton, Maine, the daughter of Willard B. Cross and Ruby A. (Small) Cross.

Greta graduated from Somerset Academy in Athens in the class of 1954.

She married John M. McCue on June 18, 1954 in Skowhegan, Maine, he passed away in 2002.

Greta and John owned and operated McCue’s General Store in Wellington from 1954 to 1970. She then became postmaster of the post office in Wellington for many years until closing in the 1980’s. After retiring she worked as a foster grandparent in the Harmony Elementary School and KVCAP head start program in Skowhegan.

She is a member of the First Baptist Church of Harmony. Greta enjoyed traveling, going to her grandson’s games, and loved to go shopping. She also enjoyed knitting, socializing with her friends and she loved the time she spent with her family.

She is survived by her three children; Pamela Renaud of Harmony, Timothy McCue and his wife Janice of Presque Isle, Faith Bussell and her husband Darrell of Harmony, two grandchildren; Daniel McCue of Presque Isle and Adrian Bussell of Harmony.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, September 4, 2012, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Harmony, High Street, Harmony, with a memorial service to follow at 2:00 p.m. at the church.

A private burial will be held at the Maine Veterans Cemetery in Augusta.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Smart & Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
