1932-2015
East Madison-Arthur W. Scott, 82, passed away on Jan. 8, 2015 at his home in East Madison with family by his side.
He was born July 10, 1932 in Skowhegan, the son of Frank H. Scott and Irene (Berube) Scott.
He was educated in the Skowhegan School system.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed in Korea for 18 months out of his two year enlistment.
He married the former Donna Moore on Oct. 6, 1990 in Brighton.
Arthur started his career, working in the area Shoe Shops as a hand sewer for many years. He then worked for KLD out of Bingham, working on the Kennebec Log Drive for several years. Following that, he went to work for Scott Paper Co. driving Tractor Trailer, hauling wood for 21 years.
He is a member of the East Madison Historical Society and the V.F.W. Post in Athens.
Arthur loved to tell jokes, he was an avid Hunter and Fisherman, he enjoyed snowmobiling, four wheeling, he loved going to his camp on Mutton Ridge in Brighton, and he had a natural connection with animals.
Arthur was known for the incredible breakfasts that he would create for his family.
He is survived by his wife Donna of 24 years of East Madison, one daughter, Darla Low and husband, Dave of Charlottesville, VA., and Embden, ME., two step-children, Judy Pontiff and husband, Paul of Queensbury, NY., Don Knight and wife, Berenice of Woolwich, two sisters, Fern Weeks, of Skowhegan, Christine Bolduc, of Skowhegan, five grandchildren, Tia and husband, Chris, Sara, Adaline, Jordan, and Elyse, seven step grandchildren, Cathy, Shawna, Lynn, Becky, Suzy, Tara, and Sam, 1 great granddaughter, Golden, many Nieces and Nephews, and two beloved pets; Colby and Miss Kitty.
He is predeceased by his Mother and Father, one son, Shane Knight, one brother, Howard Scott and one sister, Rita Scott.
A memorial service for Arthur will be held on Sunday, Jan 18, 2015 at 2:00p.m. at the Smart and Edwards Funeral Home, 183 Madison Ave., Skowhegan, Maine.
