Thomas Patrick Gallogly, 71, of Wheaton Maryland passed away Friday, August 10, 2018, at Suburban Hospital, from pneumonia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Gallogly and James Gallogly. He is survived by his siblings James Gallogly (Sue) of New Smyrna Beach FL, Marsha Gallogly of McKees Rocks, PA, Peg Gallogly of Carnegie, PA, and William Gallogly of Erie, PA, his four daughters Amy Gallogly Wells of Frederick, MD (Ken), Megan Gallogly of Winchester, VA, Jessica Gallogly of Silver Spring, MD, and Kristen Gallogly Brown of Frederick, MD. He is also survived by his grandchildren Justin Wells, Logan Gallogly, Machinist Mate 3rd Class Brandon Wells, Kyla Gallogly, Madison Gallogly, Isabella Knight, Brady Gallogly, and Antonio Knight Jr, a niece Diane Williams (Greg) of Winchester, VA., two nephews Joseph Gallogly (Leah), and Dan Gallogly, and three great nieces and two great nephews.
Thomas P. Gallogly was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. On December 6, 1946. He was a Quarter Master 2nd class in the United States Navy stationed with a Rivereen Squadron where he fought during the Vietnam War. After Thomas’s time in the Navy, he decided to continue his service to our country by joining the DC Police Department where he then became a decorated and successful Detective with D1 Homicide Unit. He spent over 20 years helping countless members of the community. Upon retiring from the Police Department, he continued his dedication to helping others by working for the Montgomery County School System as a bus driver and then site supervisor. He was an avid outdoorsman learning the ways of a hunter and fisherman and enjoyed passing these skills down to his kids and grandkids. He was a very dedicated Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved the Baltimore Orioles. Thomas also loved to play softball and bowl until recently. He changed the lives of countless people and his legacy will live on in his family and friends.
A Celebration of his life is being held at Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home in Silver Spring Maryland on September 22, 2018 starting with a gathering from 10 until 11 am with Memorial Service beginning at 11 am. The family is asking for anyone possible to wear Pittsburgh Steelers memorabilia.
The family is asking in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or to the Fraternal Order of Police in Washington DC.
