Born November 10, 1933 in Trivandrum, India to Gideon Peter and Gnanamma Crussiah. Sam was the third of four children. The family transitioned to Pune, India when he was a teenager. He moved to the United States in 1965. Sam married Alice Cherian in 1974 in Takoma Park, Maryland. He worked for the Indian Embassy in Washington, D.C, followed by the United States Federal Government (Postal Service) until retiring in 2004. He was the proud father of Julia and Tania and Grandpa of Benjamin Mathew.
Sam spent time gardening, shopping at Costco, and relaxing in his corner recliner with his frequent cup of tea. He enjoyed the buffet at Woodlands Indian Restaurant, sandwiches from Subway, and coffee with apple pie from McDonalds. He was an avid collector of watches, clocks and suits. He took pride in his homes lovingly termed Carroll Avenue, Glenside Drive, Franklin Avenue, Rambler Place and Big Horn. He delighted in giving family and friends frequent tours to Washington D.C. in his Chevrolet Caprice Classic station wagon or in his Oldsmobile.
He is preceded in death by his beloved parents, his sister Merry, and dear wife of 43 years Alice. He is survived by his older sister Leah, his younger brother William, his daughters Julia and Tania, his son-in-laws Agi Mathew and Shyam Mysore, his grandson Benjamin Mathew and many family and friends.
Samuel will be truly missed. May he rest in peace with the Lord. We await the day that we are reunited with our loved one in Heaven.
