Mary Strong passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at the age of 78. Mary was born in Scranton, Pennsylvania to Mary and Henry Graham. She was a Teacher at St. Jude’s School for over 4 decades and continued on as a Substitute Teacher after retiring.
Mary loved jeeps, putting confetti in birthday cards, bringing donuts on Sunday’s, sitting on a beach chair all day by the ocean, lazy summer days on Keuka Lake, driving the boat while everyone water skied, being in a classroom and making a difference in children’s lives, eating special meals out, playing Mahjong, decorating, St. Patrick’s Day dinners and holidays in general, watching Parker and Zoe’s games, buying clothes for the grandkids and finding new ways to spoil them, watching TV in her big overstuffed chair, being a proud black card member at Lord and Taylor, polo sweaters, telling stories, laughing, always cutting a joke with everyone she met, her dogs (but especially Chief who was such a comfort to her these past 3 years), gardening, cooking and baking especially around the holidays, and most of all she loved being silly.
She is survived by her twin sister, Catherine and brother Harry, her loving daughter Katie Shugars, son-in-law, Brad and grandchildren who were the loves of her life, Parker and Zoe, as well as cherished nieces and nephews and their children.
The family invites you to join them in celebrating Mary’s life on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 for a viewing at 1:30 PM and mass to follow at 2:30 PM at the Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church located at 12701 Veirs Mill Rd, Rockville, MD 20853.
