Mary Llew Colvin of Silver Spring, MD, age 88, a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, and friend to many died at home on February 19, 2022. She was born to Samuel Randolph Russell and Linnae Boyd Russell on March 26, 1933, in Sunderland, MD. She was a graduate of Strayer College of Washington, DC in 1951 and initiated into the Alpha Omega Chapter of Alpha Iota Sorority in 1951, an International Honorary Business Sorority. She attended and graduated from Calvert County Junior-Senior High School in 1950. Mary Llew was very active in sports playing on the basketball and softball teams. As a member of the 4-H Club, she won many awards as a talented tailor and seamstress. Mary Llew was an accomplished quilter, artist, and poet. She was married to the love of her life, Stuart Edwards Colvin, Jr. for 67 years and she is survived by three children Deborah Vere, Cynthia Hughes (Art), and Stuart Colvin, III (Carla); seven grandchildren Lindsay Bolt (Michael), John Vere (Jill), Chris Hughes (Megan), Brittany LaClair (Paul), Katie Colvin, Brett Colvin, Shannon Merrell, and six great-grandchildren, Landon Davis, Kailey, Kara, and Maddex Merrell, Adalynn LaClair and Lilly Madison Bolt. She is survived by a niece and grand-niece and family. Mrs. Colvin was a 55-year member of Silver Spring Woodside United Methodist Church preparing and serving the Holy Sacraments for 13 years. A celebration of her life is scheduled for Saturday, March 19th at 10:30 AM at HINES-RINALDI FUNERAL HOME, 11800 New Hampshire Avenue, Silver Spring, MD. Interment is scheduled for Sunday, March 20th at 11:00 AM, at Fort Lincoln Cemetery, Brentwood, MD.
