My thoughts and prayers go out to Mark's family at this most difficult time. I knew Mark at Finra, and we had some great conversations. Mark will be missed by all who knew him.

Here's story about Mark that his Mom told, or the version I remember anyways.  Mark would come in the house every day after school and look in the pot on the stove to see what was for dinner.  Mark had a great sense of humor and some of that came from his mother, I'm sure.  So Mom decided to play a trick on Mark, and she put a pair of sneakers in the pot.  When Mark came home, sure enough, he went to the pot and lifted the lid.  Without comment, Mark replaced the lid and walked away.

I don't really understand why I love this funny-because-its-not-funny zen koan of a story, but it has stuck with me.

I didn't have much contact with Mark in recent years, but I know the world was a better place with him in it.  I will miss him.


Jay and I are sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. We hope that you will find some comfort in the wonderful memories that you have shared throughout the years. May Mark’s memory be for a blessing.

Heartfelt condolences to Mark’s surviving family from his FINRA colleague Tom.  Having worked with him many times over fifteen years, I know he was extremely talented at his job and definitely the funniest person in the Advertising Regulation department.
