On Monday, July 16, 2018, Fortunee Lisbona Schettewi of Potomac, Maryland. She was a native of Cairo, Egypt where she married her husband of 57 years, Joseph Jacques Schettewi. Although a French national, she was proudly a naturalized American citizen and raised her family to be so as well. She held posts with TWA in Cairo and Paris and with General Electric in Rockville Maryland. She once won a highly publicized “Fastest Two-Fingered Typist” contest with the popular Washington Post Columnist Bob Levey. She was a longstanding member of Congregation Beth El of Montgomery County where her cooking classes were much in demand. She was pre-deceased by her husband in October 2005. She is survived by her four children Micheline Borden, Evelyne Steward, Philip Schettewi, Monique Calderon, 9 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. An interment service will be held at 10:30 am, Wednesday, July 18, 2018, Judean Memorial Gardens, 16225 Batchellors Forest Rd, Olney, MD 20832). The family will be observing Shiv’ah at the Schettewi residence (5225 Pooks Hill Rd, Apt 919-N, Bethesda) following the services through July 19, 2018. Memorial contributions may be made to Congregation Beth El or other charity of choice.
