Beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, Eleanor Friedman passed away on October 18, 2022, at the age of 86, due to an infection caused by pancreatic cancer. She is survived by her husband Allen, daughter Linda Marshall and husband David Marshall, son Steven, and grandsons Adam and Joshua Marshall. Her brother, Jerome Stulberg, predeceased her.
Eleanor grew up in the Bronx, New York City, NY. She received a bachelor’s degree and two masters degrees from City College of New York, and a third masters degree from Montclair State University. She taught elementary school, specializing in reading instruction, for 35 years (mostly in Fair Lawn, NJ). After her retirement in 1998, Eleanor and Allen moved to Monroe Township, NJ, where Eleanor enjoyed travel, golf, reading, playing mah-jongg and card games, and spending time with family (particularly her grandchildren) and friends. Eleanor and Allen moved to Rockville, MD in 2021.
Eleanor will be sorely missed by her family and her many friends. Eleanor’s family welcomes charitable contributions in her memory to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (www.pancan.org), the Children’s Literacy Initiative (www.cli.org), or Neighborhood Legal Services Program (www.nlsp.org).
