Edwin Joel Lopez, also known as “Joey'' by those close to him, was born in Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C on July 20th, 1978. Joey grew up in the Silver Spring area, later moved to Gaithersburg and then back to Silver Spring where he attended John F. Kennedy High School. As a kid he loved to play baseball and was known for his good arm. Joey was a hard worker, multi-talented such as roofing, home improvements, involved in small building projects and a subcontractor for Comcast. His favorite movies were Star Wars and loved drinking Monsters and Coca-Cola. He enjoyed music and dancing (specifically salsa), watching the Redskins play, and spending time with his family. He loved to cook, especially Puerto Rican food, always helping pops make “pasteles” and “arroz con gandules” for the holidays. He was a man with a deep rooted faith. His smile and laugh was contagious, his heart was big and never ever hesitated to help those close to him.
He treasured his family very dearly and is survived by his parents Edwin Lopez, Wandalina Mondesi; his handsome son Edwin Joel Lopez Jr.; his little sisters Wanda Jaree, Carol Michelle, Monic, Jazlyn and his little brothers Mathew, Antonio and Sam, nieces, Victoria, Vanessa, Taina; and his nephews Tony, Izeah.
Joey was an amazing son, father, brother, uncle and friend. We will miss him deeply.
