Passed away from breast cancer at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, MD on April 2, 2022, at the age of 64, surrounded by family. She is survived by a devoted husband, Edward Bloom, and her loving children, daughter, Michelle Bloom, and son, Adam Bloom. Debbie was born on September 5, 1957, in Bronx, New York to father, Lester Fishman, and surviving mother, Lucille Fishman. She lived with her parents and brother, Stuart Fishman, in Jericho, New York where she attended Jericho High School.
Debbie relocated to the Washington, DC metropolitan area to attend the University of Maryland and then received an MBA from the George Washington University. She lived in Bethesda, Maryland and served as a budget analyst at the Department of the Interior for 25 years.
In between working, she played an active role in raising her two children, serving as the Girl Scout “Cookie Mom”, and filling her home with her friends, her children’s friends, family, and neighbors. She loved all types of music and enjoyed attending concerts throughout her life. She volunteered with several organizations including Burning Tree Elementary School, Burning Tree Village, and Congregation Beth El. Her love of travel took her all over the world, but she treasured her annual beach trip with friends to Bethany Beach, DE.
Debbie is remembered as a caring, wise, witty, and exceptionally thoughtful individual.
Funeral services will be held on April 6, 2022, at 1 p.m. at Congregation Beth El, located at 8215 Old Georgetown Road, Bethesda, MD, with graveside service to follow.
