Barbara Ann Wood, age 74, of Olney, Maryland died on March 3, 2023. Barbara was a tough as nails single mom who devoted much of her life to her three children, Ryan, Justin, and Brandon. In this capacity she became locally famous for hand to hand combat with cranky neighbors, master coordination of sports practice schedules, handling adversity with grace, and making anywhere feel like home.
She was predeceased by her parents Doris and Robert Sheaffer. Besides her children and grandchildren (who ‘love her more’), Barbara is survived by brother, Robert W., her niece Lesley, her nephew Robert C., her daughter-in-law Jennifer, several cousins and many close friends.
The family will host a celebration of life in coming weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in Barbara’s name to Montgomery Hospice at 1355 Piccard Drive, Suite 100, Rockville, MD 20850.
