Born September 9, 1957 in St. Louis to the late Stanley G. Jones and Patricia Yeldell Jones, he grew up in Bonne Terre, Missouri graduating from North County High School in 1975. He then graduated from University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Medicine in 1981, followed by completion of a family medicine residency at Scott Air Force Base, Belleville, IL. He served an additional two years in the United States Air Force at Barksdale Air Force Base, Bossier City, LA. Returning to Missouri in 1986 he began practicing family medicine in Sikeston at Ferguson Medical Group where he cared for patients until his recent illness.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he served on the vestry.
An avid golfer and sports fan, he particularly followed the St. Louis Cardinals and St. Louis Blues. He served many years as team physician for Sikeston Bulldog sports. He also was an astronomy enthusiast, sharing his passion for space with neighbors and friends during evening neighborhood telescope viewings.
He is survived by his wife, Nancy Skrabala Jones of Sikeston, his mother, Patricia Yeldell Jones of Sanibel Island, FL; three sons, Benjamin (Catherine) Jones of Cheverly, MD, Dr. Peter (Nichole) Jones of Portland, OR and Dr. Charles (Lauren) Jones of Kirkwood, MO; one step-daughter, Mary (Trenton) Sanders of O’Fallon, MO; two brothers, Courtney (Joy) Jones of Tampa, FL and Rowe (Ashley) Jones of Orlando, FL. Additionally he is survived by eight grandchildren and three step-grandchildren, Cooper, Molly, Eli and Andrew Jones of Cheverly, MD, Joi and Bekker Jones of Portland, OR, Elizabeth and Anna Jones of Kirkwood, MO and Reece, Colin, and Mila Sanders of O’Fallon, MO.
Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2024 until time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Sikeston.
