She was born April 15, 1918 in Dutchtown, MO. to the late Joseph Martin and Anna T. McBride Schaefer. On December 22, 1935 she married Warren Allen York who preceded her in death.
She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church for 96 years in Sikeston, MO., and a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary in Sikeston where she had served as an officer. She had worked at Graber’s and Homestead in Sikeston as a salesclerk for many years. Alma loved to play cards and was a member of a ladies Bridge Club in Sikeston.
Survivors include two daughters, Sandra York and Sherry Bohr both of Sikeston, MO.; one sister, Peggy Dyer of Danville, IL.; grandchildren Mary Katherine Harper, Cheryl (Chance) Dowling, Julie (Mike) Conway, Dana (Kent) Myers, Jeffrey York, Joe Bohr III, Ashlee (Eric) Daniels, Nicholas (Tracey) Bohr, Tara Bohr, Michael Patrick Bohr. Great grandchildren, Katherine Lape, Allyson Krebs, Mackenzie Conway, Michael John Conway, Victoria (Seve) Anderson, Joe Bohr IV, Taylor Bohr, Jesse Daniels, Cody Daniels, Dixie Bohr, Nicholas Bohr Jr, Ash Bohr, Mason Bohr. Great great grandchildren Brendan Fox, Emma Fox, Charlie Anderson.
In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one son Rudolph York. Two daughters, Judy Harper, and Kay Curry. Her brothers and sisters Ruby Smith, Bonnie Farris, Glen Schaefer, Murl Schaefer, Joseph Schaefer, Carl Schaefer, Robert Schaefer, Patrick Schaefer. One great great grandchild Olive Bohr.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2020 from 5:00 p.m. until time of rosary service at 7:00 p.m. at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston, MO. A funeral mass will be held on Friday, October 30, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sikeston, MO., Father David Dohogne, officiating.
Burial will follow at the Sikeston City Cemetery in Sikeston, MO.
