Carey was born on August 28, 1946 in Shreveport, LA to Earl Fulton and Dorothy Legg Scriber. He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents, Arthur and Margaret Scriber; his uncle, Robert Scriber; and beloved aunt, Dixie Scriber.
Carey is survived by his son, William Carey Scriber, Jr.; step-daughter, Lauren LeBlanc; grandchildren, Brandon, Brooke, and Carly; great-grandchildren, Jolie Blair, Brent, Brody, and Sophie Mae; as well as his cousin, Bobby Scriber and wife Shirley of Plano, Texas. Survivors also include Carey’s best friend of many years, Johnny Broussard; as well as his former wife, Marsha Whitford.
Carey attended elementary school at St. John, Lakeshore Jr. High, and graduated from Fair Park High School in 1964.
Carey was a well-known professional musician who played drums in the Shreveport/Bossier area for over fifty years. He performed with many prominent local and nationally known artists during his professional career. Many will remember him as playing with the Bill Bush Combo for a number of years and recently with the Ain’t Misbehavin’ band.
The family would like to invite friends and fellow musicians to join us in a celebration of Carey’s life on Saturday, February 7, 2015 from 3-6 p.m. at 1510 Fairfield Ave. (formerly known as Fairfield Studio). A private graveside service will be held at Centuries Memorial Cemetery at a later date.
