Shreveport, LA Walter Thomas Owens, Jr. passed away on November 30, 2014 after a two year courageous battle with CNS Lymphoma of the brain. He was born on September 4, 1940 to Lola and Walter T. Owens, Sr. in Shreveport, LA .
Services to honor his life will be held at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home on December 3, 2014 at 10:00 AM. Officiating will be Brother Earnie Fegley of Calvary Baptist Church. Interment will follow at Forest Park East Cemetery. Visitation will be on December 2, 2014 at Centuries from 5 to 7 PM.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Frances Wolfe Owens; daughter, Stacey O. Bolton (Charlie); stepchildren, Steven McKneely and Lesley Lacy; grandchildren, Haley, Tyler and Kaitlyn; step grandchildren, Stephen, Paige, Peyton, Lauren and Katelyn; sister, Kay O. Williams (David) and nephews, Brian and Owen.
Tommy graduated from Fair Park High School in 1958 and attended LA Tech. He served in the US Army at Ft. Hood Texas and in Germany from 1961 to 1964. He retired from Centerpoint Energy in 2006 after 42 years. He coached Little League baseball and football and worked with Junior Achievement.

Also we would like to thank Dr. Raj Gandhi, Dr. Michael Moore, Dr. Sanford Katz and staff for their care and concern during his battle with cancer.
Honoring Tommy as pallbearers are Col Charlie Bolton, Steve McKneely, Tyler Bolton, Sgt Stephen Lacy, Dr. David Williams, Ken Borland, Rodger Swan and Larry Wall. Honorary pallbearers are George Taylor, Billy Peeples, Don Granger, Richard Bell, Clem Henderson, J. Roddy Taylor, Ray Brasher and Peyton Lacy.
Special Contributions can be made to the St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital and the Wounded Warrior Project.
