Scott Owen Roussel, 36, made his passage to heaven in the early morning hours of February 4th, 2012 after suffering a life long illness. Scott was born in Shreveport July 4th 1975, and lived most of his life here. Scott had the opportunity to live and work in New Orleans for several years where he learned to appreciate the food, music and people of the city. He enjoyed a true love for music of all genres and attended 11 New Orleans Jazz Fests in his lifetime.
Scott spent most of his working life in the restaurant industry. His first work opportunity was at Chianti’s, then to Cambridge Club and Outback Restaurant. He last worked at Trejo’s Mexican restaurant on Mansfield Rd., where he was co-manager until his declining health forced him into early retirement. Scott loved sports of all kinds and was considered a sports aficionado by those who knew him most. He especially loved LSU football and the New Orleans Saints.
Scott is survived by his parents, Paul and Linda Roussel of Shreveport and his very best friend April Lawrence and her daughter Zofia Espy. Uncles and aunts, Loyd and Wanda Cates, of Smithville, TX., Ronnie and Niece Malmay of Noble, LA., Percy William (Pete) and Julie Roussel of Marrero, LA. Cousins Ashley Rose Roussel and Scudday Roussel of Marrero, LA., and Shelly Culbertson of Noble, LA and Kenny Malmay of Frierson, LA., and a host of very dear friends.
Graveside interment will be held at Centuries Memorial Cemetery on Mansfield Rd., Thursday, February 9th at 11:00 AM with a memorial service to follow at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, 6012 Youree Drive, Saturday, February 11th, at 1:00 pm. Visitation will begin at 12:30 pm.
The family would like to especially thank Dr. Russell Fileccia, Dr. Scott Wiggins and Dr. Tommy Brown and the entire staff of Ark-La-Tex Cardiology for the great care and wellbeing of Scott through the years. The family also wishes to thank Dr. Chris Rankin for his care, especially, the last two weeks. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to St. Luke’s UMC or a favorite charity.
