Services to honor the life of Mr. Roy Anthony Savat, 88, will be held at 2:00 p.m.,on Tuesday, February 7, 2012, at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Interment, with military honors, will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. The family will receive guests on Monday evening between the hours of 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Savat was born on February 27, 1923, in Shreveport, LA to parents, Tony R. and Concetta (DeFatta) Savat. He was an Italian-American who loved his family more than anything else. Roy was a baker from childhood. He served his country proudly in the U.S. Navy during WWII and introduced the men on his ship to the best yeast rolls in the world! After serving his country, he continued baking and was part owner of Tasty Bakery.
Roy was preceded in death by his beautiful wife, LaVerne (Chandler) Savat. Left to cherish his memory are his children, Connie Casey, Toni Camp and husband, Travis, Steve A. Savat and wife, Terri, and Gregory F. Savat; six grandchildren, Colby Savat, Kayla Savat, Todd Camp, Tonya Williams, Stephanie Savat, and Sarah Savat; and one great-grandchildren, Shelby Williams.
Honoring Mr. Savat as pallbearers are Colby Savat, Frank Savat, Jr., Travis Camp, Bo Williams, Joseph Dixon, and Todd Camp.
