Patsy Ruth Harrison Gardner was born in Robeline, Louisiana February 11, 1940 to the late Otho Otto Harrison and Ruby Adale Brazzell Harrison. She graduated from Robeline High School in 1958, where she was the Valedictorian of her graduating class. Growing up she enjoyed going to bible school, Sunbeams and spending the night at her grandmother Harrison's home. She loved when her cousins came from Texas to visit. Patsy worked for over 20 years as a Banker. She retired in 2004 from First National Bank of Huntsville, Texas.
She married the love of her life, Delman H. Gardner April 16, 1960 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Their precious union gifted them three children, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren. They were blessed with 64 years together before she went to her Heavenly home on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the age of 84 in Shreveport, Louisiana. Her favorite pastimes were traveling, gardening, yard beautification and listening to gospel music. Most of all, she adored spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. It always made her smile when she had them for a week during the summer and getting to spoil them.
Patsy was a faithful member of Summer Grove Baptist Church where she was very active in many church activities. She worked the VBS every year, worked at the Thrift store and packed food boxes at the Compassion House. She also worked for many years at the nursery at Second Baptist Church in Huntsville, Texas.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Delman H. Gardner; children, Sonja Meller and husband Roland, Dwight Gardner; sister, Wanda Hicks; grandchildren, Dustin Benjamin Meller, Amber Christine Meller Lewis and husband, Jacob, Jacob Riley Meller and wife, Mackenzie, Colton Ellis Gardner and wife Carmen, Maggie Faith Gardner, Joseph Daniel Lee-Gardner and Chad Adam Lee-Gardner; great grandchildren, Gabriel Alister Gardner, Quincee Mays Tucker Meller, Rowan Westley Gardner, Willa Roane Tulley Meller, Duke LeDoux Teague Meller and Arissa Renee Kane; numerous extended family members and countless friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Kevin Mark Gardner; and sister, Cora Ann Moore.
A visitation for Patsy will be held Saturday, April 27, 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a Celebration of Life at 10:00 AM. Officiating the services will be Bro. Murry Hodge with Bro. Billy Crosby leading the music. Honoring her as pallbearers will be Dale Elliott, Jeff Elliott, Dustin Meller, Jacob Meller, Colton Gardner, Tom Walker and Chris Walker. She will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park.
