Michael Wayne Hughes

A celebration of life at graveside for Michael will be held Friday, December 23, 2022 at 1:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. He will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park.

Michael Wayne Hughes was born on April 27, 1970 in Center, Texas. He passed away on Monday, December 19, 2022 at the age of 52 in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Denise Hughes; children, Charles Hilt, Justin Hughes, Meshell Hughes and Christina Hughes; grandchildren, Slade Hilt, Stetson Hilt, and Kameron Hughes; the dog he didn't want but loved, Chloe; Step-father, Keith Windham; sisters, Tracy Samford, Kristi Windham and Kandace Metcalf; Mother-in-law, Catherine Venable; aunt, Sue Parker; cousins, Danny Parker and Jeremy Parker; nephews, Jon Samford, Jacob Samford and Sawyer Metcalf; and niece, Mckenzie Gillaspie.

Michael was preceded in death by Grandfather Earl Denby and Grandmother Mary Lucille Denby; Mother, Sheila Windham, Uncle Jerry Parker

Michael was a talented engineer. If it was broken, he could repair it. The first call whenever anything was broken and in need of repair was always to Michael Hughes. He always strived to pass down these skills to his children to ensure that they were self sufficient and always capable of getting the job done no matter what it was.

He was an exceptional entrepreneur and built several successful companies. Through these he instilled the true value of hard work in his children, and they have his work ethic instilled in them today. He ensured these vital skills were passed down to his children. They may not have liked it at the time, but they helped him regardless. His goal was never selfish it was always to ensure that his family did not go without anything.

He loved watching sports and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan, but the sport he loved watching most was watching his daughter, Christina, play softball. We are sure he will continue to watch from a little higher perspective cheering for his player on the field. Michael did have a little vice, he loved to play craps with his son and friends. Michael could be heard clear across the room playing craps and was always the life of the table.

There was never a dull moment with Michael around. His presence was always known because of his boisterous voice. Whether it was the job site, ball field, or casino floor if he was there everyone knew and everyone was happy to have him. Michael will be missed immensely in all aspects of our lives.
