Mary Colvard was born July 12, 1954 in Shreveport, Louisiana to Carlton Bert Brawley and Gloria Jean Brawley. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. As a mother, she poured her heart and soul into nurturing and guiding her five children. As a grandmother of seven, she was a source of endless warmth and affection, showering them with love and wisdom.
A devoted fan of the Dallas Cowboys, Mary cheered passionately for her team through every victory and defeat. Her enthusiasm for the game was infectious. She enjoyed cooking, getting her nails done and gardening. Mary had a green thumb and it almost seemed like magic. She also liked listening to Classic Rock. Most of all, Mary loved her "nose kisses”.
Mary passed away on Tuesday, May 21, 2024 in Keithville, Louisiana at the age of 69. She was a beacon of love, strength and grace to all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends but her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched.
Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Gloria Jean Brawley; daughter, Mary Rachel Herndon (Chad); sons, Joseph Robert "Robbie" Colvard (Rachel), James Michael Colvard (Julie), Christopher Bert Colvard (Heather) and Jason Lee Colvard; grandchildren, Lane Herndon (Ericka), Blake Herndon (Mariah), Brinley Colvard, Brennan Colvard, Rihanna Colvard, CJ Colvard, Jaxon Colvard, Angel and Haven Rodriguez; and numerous extended family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Robert "Bob" Colvard III; father, Carlton Bert Brawley; and brother, Carlton Bert Brawley Jr.
A Celebration of Life for Mary will be held Saturday, May 25, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108. She will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park.
