Mrs. Bibb was born Louise Christiancy on Monday, December 19, 1921 in Bruning, NE and entered into peaceful rest on Sunday, December 27, 2015 here in Shreveport. She was a dedicated and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose sense of humor and personality had a marked impact on those around her. During World War II, she met and married Marvin Hopkins, the father of her only child, Sandy. They were faithful members of Morningside Baptist Church until his untimely passing 33 years later in 1977. In 1979, she met and married Mr. Johnny Bibb. She and Mr. Bibb enjoyed 16 years of marriage until his passing in 1994.
Mrs. Bibb worked for 28 years at Southern Research Company and retired in 1987, moving to Hot Springs Village in Arkansas. In 2000, she moved back to Shreveport and joined the Broadmoor Baptist Church where she found her “real church home, a place I love with all my heart.” She was especially proud that after her move back home, she came out of retirement to join the Account Control Bureau where she worked for several years until retiring for a second time at the spry age of 91.
She was preceded in death by her parents Herold and Florence Christiancy, and her two loving spouses. She is survived by her sister Lucille Calkins (husband Don); Daughter Sandra Dowling (husband Bill); three grandchildren Ronald E. Dowling, Kevin Dowling (wife Karen), Denise Barnes (husband Terry); and 2 great-grandchildren Jonathan and Emily Barnes. She also has one step-son, Mike Bibb (Wife Eilene) and 4 step-grandchildren, Melissa Norton, Aaron Nathan Bibb, Amanda Bibb, and Sara Bibb.
Pallbearers will be Jason Frazier, Peter Tidovsky, John Harrison, James Collins, Tonnie Coffey, and Gerald Powell.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Lottie Moon Offering for World Missions via Broadmoor Baptist Church.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Dr. Sebron Woods and to nurse/caregivers Shannon and Jo at Regional Hospice.
