Mrs. Lillian Teniny Sanders Birge Pennington

SHREVEPORT, LA - Celebration of Life services for Lillian Birge (Teniny) Pennington, 92, will be held at 3 pm, Monday, June 4, 2012 in Centuries Memorial Chapel in Shreveport. Officiating will be Bro. Buddy Hankins of Southside Baptist Church where Mrs. Pennington was a member for many years. Interment will immediately follow in Centuries Memorial Park, Shreveport. The family will receive friends for visitation Monday, June 4 from 2 pm until services.

Lillian Pennington was born in April 15, 1920 to Harry A. J. Birge and Leola A’Brantes Birge. She was a life-long resident of Shreveport, called to her heavenly home on May 31, 2012. Mrs. Pennington was a loving wife and mother who devoted her time to her family and home. She was a long-time member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the American Legion Auxialry.

Mrs. Pennington was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of almost 60 years, William F. (Buddy) Pennington; sisters Mary Leola (Lola) B. Sike, Violet Birge, Linnie B. Bimel, and Peggy B. Nicols. She is survived by sisters Cora B. German and Mildred B. Smith and by her daughters, Sylvia P. MacPheat, Nancy P. Alexander and husband Charles; four grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and four great- great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests in recognition of the Pennington s’ support of the local Shriners’ Hospital, that memorials be considered in lieu of flowers.
