Shreveport, LA- Graveside Services celebrating the life of Laura Schafer Cannon, 81, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, March 9, 2015 at Centuries Memorial Park. Officiating will be Rev. Jim Freeman. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. at Broadmoor Presbyterian Church following the graveside service.
Mrs. Cannon was born on October 1, 1933 in Green Bay, WI. She graduated from West Green Bay High School in 1952. Laura was a member of Broadmoor Presbyterian Church. She was a past member of the choir and bell choir, honorary life member of P.W. Women, where she served for years as the Circle Chairman and past moderator. Mrs. Cannon also served as Chairman of Telcom Pioneers’ Hug-A-Bears, member of Alpha Theta Sorority, sang with R.S.V.P. singers and most recently with the Super Senior Singers of Broadmoor United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Laura loved collecting angels and doing arts and crafts especially with children.
Mrs. Cannon was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Harry Lee Cannon; one son, John Bryan Cannon and her parents.
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Laura are her children, Peter Lee Cannon and wife Anne (Lakeland, TN), Vicki Dowling and husband Bill(Bullard, TX), Marcia Tomlinson and husband Jerry(Baton Rouge, LA); grandchildren, Michael and Alex Tomlinson and Stephen and Ashley Cannon and one sister, Marilyn Reynard and husband Jim. Mrs. Cannon is also survived by a host of other relatives and friends.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Jeff Cole, Jack Scott, Ed Komick, Grady Hooper and Steve Callaway.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations may be made to Broadmoor Presbyterian Church or the American Macular Degeneration Foundation in Mrs. Cannon’s name.
