She was a long time member of the Margaret Street Church of Christ in MIlton, FL., where she resided for many years. She graduated Nursing School in 1978 at Northwestern. After over 25 years of working in the hospital, she switched her career to being a medical foster parent, for the next 20 years. She had a need to care for and love anyone in need of it. Through that process the family grew God blessed her with a heart of gold and she did not waste it.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Forrest W. Chapman Jr., father, Clayton Maddox, mother, Lena Maddox; sister, Carol Hopkins; brothers, Bud John Maddox and Tim Maddox; grandsons, Jeremy Chapman and T.J. Chapman; granddaughters, Tara Capps, Margo Lambert, and Hannah Yost and many Aunts, Uncles, and Cousins.
Left to cherish her memory are her brother and sister-in-law, Ray and Terri Maddox of Milton, FL.; children, Tony and daughter-in-law, Teri Chapman of Cañon City, CO., Tia Chapman of Lawton, OK., Teresa Yost of Frederick, MD, Patricia and son-in-law, Jimmy Allen of Keithville, LA, John Chapman and fiancé Lynn Dunbar of Cantonment, FL., Adam Palacio of Pensacola, FL, John Collins and wife Carla Collins of Pensacola, FL, Raven Chapman of Fort Jackson, TX.; along with 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and much more extended family.
A visitation for Katie will be held Tuesday, July 30, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Eastern Gate Memorial Funeral Home and Memorial Gardens, 1985 West Nine Mile Road, Pensacola, Florida 32534, followed by a celebration of life at 11:00 AM. Pallbearers will be John Chapman, Kevin Bowman, Don Perkins, David Huddelson, Scott Hunter, Jimmy Allen. She will be laid to rest in Eastern Gate Memorial Park next to her beloved husband. Officiating the services will be Troy Spradlin.
Our Angel here on Earth has gained her wings in heaven! She will be loved, cherished, missed, and remembered by many.
The family would like to give special thanks to the care staff at Willis Knighton Pierremont and her personal caretaker, Brenda Russell, for the care she received from them.
