John was a master technician and retired from Mike Morgan as Service Manager. He won many awards and trips through GM due to his accomplishments. He loved the outdoors and being in the woods hunting, raising a garden and giving away the vegetables he grew, and taking apart a broken motor and getting it to run again. He was a man who loved helping others no matter what the project was. He loved his church and helping with projects there as well. Once completed, he would always ask "what is next?" He truly had a servant heart.
John married the loved of his life, Irma Jean Penick on May 26, 1957. He and Irma had two boys, David Wayne Penick of Shreveport and John Russell Penick.
John was much loved and will be dearly missed by everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. He loved his church, Christ United Methodist, and the many friends he made in life. He loved his family and was very devoted to them. They were all blessings to him. We lost a wonderful precious person when God took back His child.
John was preceded in death by his wife Irma Jean Penick, son, John Russell Penick, parents, John David Penick and Annie Callaway Jones and sister, Tammy Faust.
Left to cherish his memory is son, David Penick (Pam), grandson, Jonathon Penick, Sr. (Lena), granddaughter, Candace Penick; great grandchildren, Jonathon Penick, Jr., Allison Penick, Brady Rosati and Sophie Rosati; brother, Billy Ray Penick; sisters, Martha Foreman (Charles), Tess Carter (John), and Linda Taft; brother Jerry Penick (Carolyn). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
A Visitation for John will be held on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 from 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 2:00 pm with Rev. Willis Dear officiating. Interment will take place in Centuries Memorial Park. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Mark Penick, Jonathon Penick, Johnny Pace, Dick Welch, Keith Marcott, and Steve Norris.
