Elsie was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She was a homemaker and devoted her life to raising her children and caring for her family. Elsie enjoyed sewing and growing vegetables and flowers in her gardens. She was an active member of Ford Park Baptist Church for many years. She loved the Lord and will be greatly missed by those who knew her best and loved her most.
Elsie was preceded in death by her parents, Malcolm Lafayette "Fate" Bush and Mary Lou Coker Bush; husband, Harold Girlinghouse; daughter, Rita Smith and husband Randy Smith.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons Don Girlinghouse (Tami) and Marion Girlinghouse (Janet); daughter Annette Rolling (Kevin); 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A visitation for Elsie will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A celebration of life at graveside will occur Friday,January 7, at 1:00 PM at Centuries Memoral Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108 with Bro. John Newman officiating. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be David Osborne, Bill McSween, Tate Miller, Cliff Roberts, Bo Roberts, Brad Patterson and Steve Nicholson.
Elsie will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Rd, Shreveport, LA 71108-5813.
The family would like to extend special thanks to Pilgram Manor Nursing Staff, Regional Hospice Care Group and Ford Park Baptist Church friends and staff for their concern and help during this difficult time.
