Elizabeth Ann Martin was born in Winnsboro, LA on November 15, 1932, the eldest child of Will “Red” and Ethel Riser. A Red Cross certified lifeguard, graduate of LA Tech in Home Economics, longtime substitute teacher and Aide at Forest Hills Elementary, she was also an active member for many years of Christ United Methodist.
Ann was preceded in death by her kindergarten sweetheart and husband of 62 years Charles Ray Martin. She is survived by son Ken Martin and wife Linda; daughter Kay Griffith and husband John; grandchildren Alice Fakier and husband Jay; Blake Griffith and wife Catie; Kelsey Gomez and husband Kendall. She was also blessed with 7 great-grandchildren, Kate, Beth, Gus, Hudson, Karter, Lottie, and Riser. Ann is also survived by best friend Gloria Echols whom the family would like to thank for her many years of dedicated friendship and support.
A visitation for Ann will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108. Following the visitation will be a celebration of life graveside service at 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Park, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, LA 71108.
The family would like to express our extreme gratitude to the staff of Montclair assisted living for the kindness and care they provided Ann for the past 3 years. We would also like to acknowledge the wonderful care provided by the staff at LSU Hospital, specifically the ICU Nurses, both day and night staff on 7G, and the Palliative Care group and the St. Joseph’s Hospice staff.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations can be made to St Jude or Christ UMC in Ann’s memory.
