Don was born in Pinckneyville, Illinois to Elijah J and Jennie Bidwell Jones. He passed away peacefully May 2, 2017. He was a resident of Shreveport since 1970 and was a retiree of Gannett Newspaper Production Co (The Shreveport Times).
Don was a long time runner and biker, participating in several state and national runs and rides, including a 7 day ride across Minnesota.
Survivors are his son, Douglas, of Beaumont,TX; two daughters, Deborah Jones , of Beaumont, TX, Denise Jones John and husband Ronald of Bakersfield, CA; two granddaughters, Dr. Tami John of Houston, TX and Teri John of Bakersfield, CA.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Broadmoor Methodist Church.
