David Boyd Strickland, Sr. passed away Dec. 28, 2019 after a lengthy illness – just 10 days shy of his 85th birthday. He was born Jan. 7, 1935 to Allen and Myrtle Strickland in Plain Dealing, LA. He attended Fair Park High School.
David enjoyed hunting but fishing was his passion. Many great memories were made at the lake house on Caddo Lake with children and grandchildren swimming, fishing, running yoyos, cooking out and staying on their houseboat. Playing dominoes and UNO cards with family and friends filled his later years with much joy. David was in retail management for the 7-11 chain, Holsum bread and Circle K. He finished out his career with the Caddo Parish School Board for 17 years as a bus driver.
David was preceded in death by his parents, his stepmother, Pauline Strickland, and brother James Strickland, along with two sons David Boyd Strickland, Jr. and Father John Moloney.
Survivors include wife, Sandra Geneux Strickland of Shreveport; daughter in law, Trisha Strickland of Kingwood, TX; son and daughter in law Donald and Leah Strickland of Stonewall; daughter and son in law, Darlene & Steve Causey of Shreveport. Stepchildren, daughter in law, Carol Moloney of Baton Rouge, stepdaughter Gina Sanders of Shreveport, and stepson, Dean Moloney of Seattle, WA.
Grandchildren: Shanna and Brian Lumpkin of Houston, David & Laura Strickland of Houston, Brittany Strickland of Shreveport, Randy and Kaycee Stover of Bossier City, Ashley & Brad Johnston of Shreveport, Sean Moloney of Alexandria, Kyle Moloney of Baton Rouge, Crystal Sanders and Jason Sanders of Texas and fifteen great-grandchildren. In addition to the mother of his three children, RoseMary Namee Strickland, David is survived by brother and sister in law, Fred and Billie Strickland of Shreveport, sister in law Elva Strickland of Phelan, CA. Half brothers, Leonard Strickland of Bossier, Ronnie & Jackie Strickland of Houston; half sisters, Sandra & Robert Robertson of Bethany, Allene & Joe Deleon of Frierson, Beverly & Pete Rohde of Philomath, OR and Louise and Lee Collins of Blanchard.

Visitation will be Wednesday, January 1st from 4 pm to 8 pm. The celebration of life be held Thursday, January 2nd at 1 pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 275 Southfield Road, Shreveport.
