Shreveport, LA- Funeral services celebrating the life of Dahlia Strahan Lewis, 87, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 12, 2014 in the chapel of Centuries Memorial Funeral Home. Officiating will be Pastor Denny Duron and Pastor Frances Duron. Interment will follow in Centuries Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 11, 2014 at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home.
Dahlia was born on March 4, 1927 in Mansfield, LA and passed away on May 8, 2014. Mrs. Lewis was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Dahlia enjoyed cooking for family and friends. She was a member of Shreveport Community Church. Mrs. Lewis lived by Proverbs 31 every day of her life.
Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Lewis; brother, William Thomas Strahan; sister, Nell Palmer and son-in-law, Larry Averitt
Left to cherish beautiful memories of Dahlia are her daughters, Vicki Averitt and Anna Jean Stroope and husband Ron; sisters, Joan Kowalski, Bettye Cabra and husband Barney and Judy Keith and husband Mack; one brother, Paul Strahan and wife Sandra; grandchildren, Shawn Stroope and wife Sarah, Chris Stroope and wife Brandi, Alicia Burns and husband Ragan and Brad Averitt; great grandchildren, Peyton Stroope, Caitlyn Stroope, Parker Stroope, August Burns and Lucy Burns.
Honoring Mrs. Lewis as pallbearers will be: Shawn Stroope, Chris Stroope, Ragan Burns, Fred Smids, David Strahan, Duane Buckner, Mack Keith and Ken Craig. Honorary pallbearers will be: Peyton Stroope and Brad Averitt.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Crystal Guillory and Amedisys Hospice for all the love and care shown to Mrs. Lewis.
