Curtis Ray Smith, 79, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Bossier City, Louisiana. Curtis was born in Columbia, Tennessee on March 7, 1943 to Fred and Jessie Smith.
Curtis spent his younger years in Blanchard, Louisiana and later enlisted in the United States Army. He was stationed in Korea and then assigned to Hawaii, where he met the love of his life, Alison Lerma. Together they shared 55 years of marriage. He completed his Army career with a tour in Thailand during the Vietnam war. After returning home, Curtis began his career with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he later retired.
He enjoyed motorcycle riding, Nascar, football and his occasional trips to the Casinos. Most of all, He loved spending time with his family and will be deeply missed.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Alison Lerma Smith; son, Chris Smith (Nikki); daughter, Sheri Hudson (Jeff); five grandchildren, Nick, Chris, Alex (Hunter), Morgan and Lindsey and a great grandchild, Eliana. He is also survived by his sister, Marie Lavelle and brother, Fred Kelly Smith, Jr.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Fred Kelly Smith, Sr. and Jessie Smotherman Smith and siblings, Thomas Smith and Louise Cocherell.
A celebration of life will be held Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108, followed by a reception from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Curtis will be laid to rest in Centuries Memorial Park.
