Until her retirement, Chris worked for various grocery stores in the meat department as a meat wrapper. Chris was born and raised in Bryan, Texas until she saw an ad in the newspaper asking for "Hospitality Produce Girls" at Weingarten's in Shreveport. She packed up what little she had and moved to Shreveport and never looked back. Our mother (Mamaw) was all about family. She was selfless, funny, unpretentious, and a little salty. She loved us with all her heart. Chris enjoyed bingo, a hot cup of coffee, true crime novels, her grandbabies, the New Orleans Saints, and Conway Twitty. She will be greatly missed by those who knew her best and loved her most.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John Bartkowiak and Florine Bromnskie Bartkowiak; two sisters and three brothers.
Left to cherish her memory is her daughters, Diane Pinckard (Darryl) and Kim Gregory; son, Danny Neal (Nelda); grandchildren, Kevin Neal (Missy), Christy Gregory, Dan Alan Neal (Christina), Sara Kauffman (Eric), Steven Neal (Elizabeth), William Hall (Kristen); great grandchildren, Khloe, Braydan, Ethan, Tatum, Kevin, Hayden, Jake, Landry, and Emily; great great grandchild, Antonio.
A Visitation for Chris will be held Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A Celebration of Life Service will follow at 3:00 PM. Interment will take place at Centuries Memorial Park. Honoring the family as pallbearers will be Eric Kauffman, Steven Neal, Dan Alan Neal, Kevin Neal, Braydan Guyer, and William Hall.
This is just a temporary goodbye Mamaw. When we see you again at those Pearly Gates we will shout out loud HELLO DARLIN'!
