Chrissy was a devout Christian. She was a member and attended many churches over the years, including Westwood Baptist Church, Shreveport Baptist Tabernacle, and Mansfield Road Baptist Church.
She lived alone and drove herself until she was 102. When she was 100, she stunned computer instructors at the Hamilton Branch of Shreve Memorial Library by learning email and Microsoft Publisher. She didn't let her age stop her from going and doing things she loved. She recently was featured on the local news for celebrating her 108 birthday.
Chrissy was known for phrases like "I'm on a low limb today" when she was feeling bad or when she wasn't motivated to do something, she would say, "get it together Chrissy."
She did anything to stay mobile in her later years of life. She loved walking, gardening, and working around her yard picking up pine cones and limbs. "Pine cones and limbs....story of my life" she would say. She would feed toast from her hand to a wild squirrel every morning.
A Visitation for Chrissy will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 1-2 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Funeral Home, 8801 Mansfield Road, Shreveport, Louisiana 71108. A Graveside Service will follow at 2 p.m. at Centuries Memorial Park.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at The Bloom at Bossier, The Carpenter House, and Mr. Earl Alexander, a/k/a "the pill doctor," as grandmas called him.
