Betty Jean Byram, 91, was reunited with her husband in heaven on Sunday, March 3, 2024. Visitation will be at Brookwood Baptist Church from 10:00 – 11:00 on Saturday, March 9, 2024 immediately followed by a service of remembrance. Gilbert Troell and John Harp will be officiating.
Betty was born near Healdton, Oklahoma on December 21, 1932 to George Elmer and Bertie Thomas. She graduated from Healdton High School and then went to business school before marrying Kenneth Monroe Byram on September 18, 1952. She spent the first years of their marriage working, then retired to start a family and raise their children. She excelled at being a mother and was always present in their lives in the most loving way possible. She was always an active member of a local church, whether they were living in Oklahoma, Texas or Louisiana and most recently became a member of Brookwood Baptist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her five brothers and sisters, and her husband of 64 years. She is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law Kevin Byram and wife Claudia and Kelly Byram and wife Kelly; grandchildren Ian and wife Anna, Hollis and husband Philip, Cameron and wife Courtney, Kendall and fiancé Miles and Cade and girlfriend Kasey; and two great grandchildren, Carter and Cooper. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Betty had so many close friends who are left to cherish the memories they made together. She never met a stranger and you knew you had an instant, life-long friend as soon as you were introduced. She loved her grandchildren in a special way and developed a unique bond with each of them.
Her happiest times were spent with her husband, children and grandchildren at their property in Oklahoma known as “The Pond.” There she loved caring and cooking for her entire brood. She enjoyed having them all present where she could look out the kitchen window and see them outside; either riding motorcycles, fishing, playing in the mud or working on projects around the place. She enjoyed Sunday family dinners with Kevin and Claudia, working puzzles with Kelly and Kelly and playing cards or dominoes with friends.
Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons Cameron, Ian and Cade; grandsons-in-law Philip Massari and Miles Nowak; nephews, Michael Thomas, Kenneth Ray Byram and Ronnie Max Burton; and honorary grandson Nick Pelliccio.
