Virginia Alberta Aleshire Hitt

Virginia Alberta Aleshire Hitt, 96, of Shenandoah, passed away on Friday, September 11, 2015 at MontVue Nursing Home where she had lived for the last two years.
She was born in Luray on March 26, 1919 and was the daughter of the late Luther and Zora Belle Stoneberger Aleshire.
Virginia lived the majority of her life in the Page County area. She attended Page County schools and she retired from Kentucky Fried Chicken in Luray.
She was a very active member of the Church of the Valley and enjoyed working with the ladies fellowship and volunteering at the Luray Senior Center. She also enjoyed making quilts and crocheting.
On April 6, 1935 she married Coe W. Hitt, Sr., who preceded her in death on February 13, 1998. She was also preceded in death by sons, Billy Mark, Jimmy, Ronald and John Hitt; and a daughter, Peggy Ann Knight.
She is survived by her children, Janie Stewart of Stanley, Katie Good of Luray, Coe W. Hitt, Jr. of Elkton, Jerry and David Hitt of Shenandoah; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 6-7:00 pm, this (Monday) evening at Church of the Valley in Shenandoah.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Tuesday, September 15, 2015, at the church with Pastor Alfred C. Comer, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Newport Christian Church Cemetery.
