Donald Lee LaConia

Donald Lee LaConia, 90, of Shenandoah, passed away on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on August 19, 1934 in Shenandoah and was the son of the late James M. and Ruth A. LaConia. Mr. LaConia served in the US Army. He was employed with Leer Manufacturing for ten years before retiring. He loved to ride horses, read the newspaper, and coon hunt. On April 10, 1959, he married Elisabeth Renate Wüstendörfer LaConia, who preceded him in death on January 28, 2022. He is survived by sons, Harald LaConia and wife, Helene, of Frankford, Germany, Anthony Wayne LaConia and fiancé, Barbara Bosserman of Timberville; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Dovel and companion, Melissa Wright, of Shenandoah; three grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; two brothers, H.P. LaConia of Sterling Park, VA and J.W. LaConia of Elkton; numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Lela McGregor and two brothers, Leroy and J. C. LaConia. A funeral service will be held 2 pm, Monday, September 9, 2024 at Lindsey-Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah with Bro. Everette Dovel officiating. Burial will be at Rest Haven Community Cemetery.
