Charles Edgar Beaghan Sr.

Charles Edgar Beaghan, Sr., 79, of Shenandoah passed away at his home on Friday, April 8, 2011.
He was born on January 16, 1932 in Shenandoah and was the son of the late George Francis and Mura Edith Miller Beaghan.
Charles lived all of his life in Shenandoah and attended Shenandoah High School. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Germany. He was a member of St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Shenandoah Moose Lodge, Avis O. Comer, VFW Post #8613 and the New Market Eagles; he was a former member of Shenandoah Lions Club. He was a corrections officer at Powhatan Correctional Center for 17 years and a jailer for Page County Sheriff’s Department, before retiring.
Charles was an avid bowler and member of Virginia Pro Tour; he enjoyed baseball and softball and was a fan of the New York Yankees and Virginia Cavaliers.
On June 7, 1954 he married Shirley Seekford, who survives.
He is also survived by his children, Charles E. Beaghan, Jr. and wife, Cathy of Shenandoah, Karen Ryan and husband, Jeff of Elkton, Sherri Fidler and husband, Bert of Shenandoah, Kevin Beaghan and wife, Marla of Elkton; five grandchildren, Lee Turner, Justin Beaghan, Amanda and Matt Fidler, and Austin Beaghan; three sisters, Phyllis Kite of Stuarts Draft, Margie Davis of Shenandoah, Janet Dofflemyer of Staunton; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the Lindsey–Kyger Funeral Home in Shenandoah from noon on Monday, April 11th until 4 PM on Tuesday, April 12th when Mr. Beaghan will be taken to St. Peter’s Church in Shenandoah. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening at the church from 7-8:00 PM or at his home at anytime.
A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 13, at the church with Pastors Patti Covington and Mark Briehl officiating. Burial will follow at the Methodist Cemetery. Military rites will be by the Avis O. Comer, VFW, Post #8613.
