Nellie B Hood

Nellie Bea Pitman Hood,82, passed away at 6:15 PM Sunday, February 26, 2012, at Breckenridge Health and Rehab, Sullivan, IN. She was born Jan. 22, 1930. Nellie was baptized in 1944 into the Church of Christ in Sandy Creek, Kentucky. In 1946, she married Harrison Hood and moved to Indiana where they raised their 9 children until their fathers’ death in 1972. Nellie worked at Turkey Run State Park until she moved to Shelburn, then worked at MCL Cafeteria until retiring in the early 1990’s. She moved from Shelburn into Breckenridge Health Center. She was preceded in death by her husband Harrison; one son Harrison Jr.; one grandson, Jon Hines; her parents; three brothers; and one sister. Survivors include her daughters, Mae French and husband Paul, Marsh Heath, Carol Fleming and husband Jim, Cynde Hood and Linda Dubree; her sons, Bud Hood and wife Jan, Keith Hood and wife Lori, and Billy Hood, 22 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren, 8 great-great-grandchildren; three sisters; one brother; and many nieces and nephews. Services will be Wednesday at 11 AM with visitation from 9-11 AM at Mattox-McHugh Funeral Home in Shelburn and also a Graveside service at Bethany Cemetery in Marshall, IN at 2PM on Wednesday.
