Norbert was born June 26, 1923 in Reedsville, WI to Henry and Emma (Habeck) Pfingsten.
He attended local public schools and graduated from Denmark High School, Class of 1943. Following graduation, Norbert proudly served his country in the United States Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier U.S.S. Bennington during WWII. He was honorably discharged in March 1946.
On July 19, 1947, Norbert and Lois Sobieck were united in marriage in Denmark, WI at All Saints Church.
Norbert worked in construction for several years before working at Kohler Co. After 36 years working in the Iron Foundry and Engine Machine Shop, Norbert retired from Kohler Co. in 1986.
Together, he and Lois spent their retirement in Florida, returning to Sheboygan in 2009 to be with their family.
Norbert was a life member of the V.F.W. Post 4252 in Florida. From 1990 to 1992, Norbert served as the Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus. He was very involved with the Union at Kohler Co. until his retirement.
He enjoyed the outdoors, particularly taking long walks until he was unable. He also enjoyed camping, fishing and bowhunting. Norbert was an avid reader, often reading all day.
In addition to his wife Lois, Norbert is survived by children, Caroline (Clint) Messner of Sheboygan, Norb (Carol) Pfingsten of Howards Grove, Deb (Steve) Boll of Sheboygan, Cindy Pfingsten of Sheboygan, LuAnn Pfingsten of Sheboygan, Toni (Adam) Speckman of Sheboygan, Patty Pfingsten of Colorado, Penny McKinster of Sheboygan Falls; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Jim Johanek; and other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Hugo Pfingsten.
In accordance with Norbert’s wishes, a private celebration of life will be held.
The family of Norbert would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Sheboygan Progressive Healthcare Center and the staff of St. Nicholas Hospital and the nurses of St. Nicholas Home, Health and Hospice for the care and compassion shown to him.
Norbert will always be remembered for his deep love for his wife, Lois.
