He was born March 22, 1923 in Sheboygan, youngest of four children, to Richard and Anna (Pallaske) Luther. He was a graduate of Central High School. Edmund grew up with lifelong friend, Donald Grapentine, who preceded him in death. After high school Edmund proudly served his country in the US Army from January, 1943 to December, 1945. He was attached to Gen. Patton’s 3rd Army in the European Campaign and was later transferred to the Pacific Theatre on Okinawa.

Edmund learned mechanical skills while in the Army, after which he became a skilled mechanic in civilian life. For twenty five years he was employed as a mechanic at Clicquennoi Auto Body. At the recommendation of his good friend, Clyde Fredericks, he then joined the custodial staff at Sheboygan Area School District for 15 years, retiring in 1986.
During his life and retirement years, Edmund enjoyed fishing, boating, hunting, and taking walks in the woods to observe wildlife. He enjoyed spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. They all gathered this last Father’s Day for a wonderful celebration.
