Jake was born June 15, 1934 in Sheboygan to Clarence and Azalia (Olsen) Jacobs.
He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corp from 1954 to 1957 and enjoyed driving the “Ducks.”
Following his honorable discharge, Jake and Joann Weimann were united in marriage at Trinity Lutheran Church on September 14, 1957.
Jake was employed as an apprentice printer for 5 years and then worked at Trinity Lutheran Church as a custodian for over 24 and a half years. When he wasn’t working at Trinity, he sang in the Male Choir, drove the church bus and ushered. He was an Assistant Scout Master and following his retirement he worked at Hoffmans Flowerland. Jake enjoyed yardwork, golfing and his unofficial title of “Neighborhood Watchman.” He loved a bargain and was always on the lookout for a garage sale.
In addition to his wife, Joann; Jake is survived by his children, Michael Jacobs, Sandra (Brian) Blindauer, Mark (Martha) Jacobs, Matthew (Barb) Jacobs; grandchildren Danielle Blindauer, Nicholas (Rochelle) Blindauer, Kesley Jacobs, Laura (Scott) Heinrich, Alex (David) Matenaer, Brent Jacobs, Libby (Fiance, Tim Holte) Jacobs; great-grandchildren, Morgan and Madison Blindauer; sister-in-law, Maria Wensauer; brothers-in-law, George Schneekloth, Robert (Nancy) Weimann, Carl Weimann, Wally (Terry) Weimann, Kenny Weimann, Don (June) Weimann, John (special friend, Sue Jones) Weimann, Ralph Eirich; many nieces and nephews; and other family and friends.
Jake was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Clarence Jacobs Jr.; sisters, Lorrain (Gordon) Bigelow, Shirley (Edwin) Saxton, Ione (Robert) Friedreichs, and Connie Schneekloth; father- and mother-in-law, Gottlieb and Amalia Weimann; sisters-in-law, Lily (Wally) Voss, Wilma (Robert) Fieck, Carol Weimann, Doria Eirich, Helen (Eugene) Panzer, Leona Weimann, Hida Weimann; brother-in-law, Lyle Wensauer.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Jake’s name.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, October 13, 2013 at 7:00 pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 824 Wisconsin Ave, Sheboygan. Rev. Timothy J. Mech, Senior Pastor, and Rev. John M. Berg, Associate Pastor, will officiate. A time of visitation and support will be held at the church on Sunday from 3:00 pm until the time of service. A private entombment will be held at Sunrise Memorial Gardens.
The family of Jake would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Dr. Max Haid, all the wonderful angels at Vince Lombardi Cancer Clinic, Aurora Sheboygan Memorial Medical Center and Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice for the care and compassion shown to him and his family.
First and foremost, Jake enjoyed helping people and his family.
