Sherry Jean Cooper, 78, resident of Shawnee, Oklahoma passed away peacefully with family by her side, Monday, February 11, 2019. Sherry was born April 5, 1940 to Glynn and Annie Phillips. She attended Comanche High School where she met and eventually married the love of her life, Kent Cooper. The couple raised two sons, Michael and David. Sherry was a devout Christian. She taught Sunday school for over 55 years. She filled in as a Lay speaker for several Methodist ministries throughout the Shawnee area and led numerous women’s retreats. She enjoyed cooking, reading and family vacations. Every year they would take a family vacation before Michael and David returned to school; their favorite places to visit were National Parks. Sherry was a Den Mother when her oldest son was in the Cub Scouts. She cherished her time spent with her family and absolutely adored her granddaughters. Sherry will be remembered for her kind, loving and gentle soul. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend who will be dearly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
Sherry is preceded in passing by her parents, Glynn Arthur and Annie Jean Phillips; sister, Glenda Spence; brother, Glynn Phillips II and her prayer partner of 40 years, Beverly Pollock. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Kent Cooper; son, Michael Cooper and his wife, Diane; son, David Cooper and his wife, Beverly; granddaughter, Amanda Phelps and her husband, Joey; granddaughter, Lizzy Cooper; sister, Kathleen Hupp and numerous other family members and friends.
Visitation will be Thursday, February 14, 2019 from 5-7 pm at Resthaven Funeral Home
Funeral Service will be 10:00 am, Friday, February 15, 2019 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Shawnee
